Bhutia
language was only an oral language till 1960s and there after it, started to be
written base on tumisambota’s script, padma Shri, Norden Tshering Bhutia
Ex.Director Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim,
founded the written form of Bhutia language. Bhtuia Language then started to be
taught in Government School in the state
and this book as well as Bhutia language as a whole owe a lot to Shri Norden
Tshering Bhutia, for his Invaluable contribution made by him, in development
and preservation of Bhutia language.
March
22 1943 was an auspicious day specially for the Sikkim Bhutia Community because
on this day a prominent person pedma Shri, Norden Tshering Bhutia is born in
the house of Wongchuk Tshering Bhutia at Tathangchen, Gangtok, East Sikkim. He
got his education up to higher secondary
level at Sir, Tashi Namgyl Academy, Gangtok and became Graduate from St.Josep’s
college north point, Darjeeling. Later regional but College of education,
Bhuhaneswar, Orissa. His Employe life started in 1969 as he was appointed as a
teacher in, Enchey School. He was sent on only to Bhutia language deputation
for a period of Six month to the Indian Army officer School to teach Sikkimese
Bhutia language in 1971 he rejoined in state. Govt. and was promoted to
Gazetted post of School Inspector. Along
with his duty as an inspector of School
he Conducted research work into Bhutia language (lho-key) after spending seven
year in his research he brought Bhutia language into written form in 1977 and
became the puther of first self Teaching
Book in Sikkim. Being a broad minded person he not given emphasis only to
Bhutia language but also made valuable contributions in developing the Lepcha
and Limboo languages. In 1980 he was promoted to post of deputy Director of
Education at as a Joint director in 1984. After inducting into the state civil
service vadre he was posted as joint secretary in Sikkim police. Few years
later again he posted in Ecclesitical Department as a joint Secretary. He works
as secretary in Sikkim Public Service Commission and Chief Executive Officers
of the Sikkim khidi and village industries board. In November 1999 he was
broght back to his parent Department HRDD as Director when he initiated the
inclusion of the Bhutia, Lepcha and Limboo Language in Sikkim at the under Graduate
level. He has done an example work for the upliftment of Sikkimese languages, keeping
in view of all these innovative achievement he was awarded highest Award of the
Subba Community. In 1999 he was awared the Achievement Award from the Director
of International Pubucity House for Conducting and successful research work of
Sikkimese Bhutia (lho-key) and Certificate of Excellence for outstanding
service of achievement and contributions from Dr.Bhisma Nanain Shingh Hon’le
former Governor of Tamil Nadu. His commendable works in the development of
language as been recognised nationally and internationally. He retried from
Government service on the Day of 30st March 2001. After retired devotion toward
the upliftment of language was not came less the containable contributed his
valuable time and 2005 he was Awarded Intellectual Honoour The jewel of Sikkim,
by Sanjay Gupta national Vice President. All India Congerence Intellectual and
Pradat Abhyarthana Patra from Shri K.P Adhikari, Secretary, Sanskritik Mamika
Awam Dharohar, Vibhag, Government of Sikkim, Gangtok in 2005. Know he is a
Padma Shri Awarded and Know he is a President of Bhutia Keyrab Yargay Tshogpo Gangtok,
East Sikkim.
